a bit shaky but functional

I needed a loft bed in my office as a place to tuck a kid or small adult when I have visitors, which isn't too often. This one fits the bill for me. Takes up little space and fits right over my desk area. It is a bit shaky but I put it against a wall so I'm not worried, You can bolt it to the wall for more stability if you are positioned near a stud, but I'm not. It took an experienced person a little over 2 hours to put the whole thing together (had to assemble it in pieces and move into the small space, but got it done). You can put the ladder on either side, a nice feature. I have a single futon on it and it's comfortable. Th mattress slats are metal. You need your own tools. I compared a lot of beds and I like this because it isn't bulky. If I needed a bed for everyday, a bed for a teenager or older child, I'd opt for a wooden bed that is much more sturdy.

Nice for the Price

It is a little wobbly but it seems to be stable. I would rate 5 stars if it was more stable. The instructions are OK but not great. Look at all the holes carefully and make sure they are lined up. After we assembled the bed we had to take a piece off and turn it around in order to attach the ladder but all in all it was well worth the money. The ladder can be placed on either end of the bed which wasn't in the description. We moved all the furniture in the bedroom before opening the box and finding that out. It would have been nice to know that before hand. It is a real loft bed, not a junior. My daughter can walk under the bed and we have plenty of room for her chest of drawers and a desk. I am happy with my purchase.

Yes, they are a little wobbly, but not dangerous in any way.

I bought two of these for my 6 & 7 year old children who have smaller bedrooms. They love these beds. They are nice and high, giving great use of the floor for other things. I strapped the side rail to a wall stud, and it's now as solid as a rock (though it was really not necessary, I just wanted to see if it made any difference). Loft beds are now very hard to find, and these are great!
