Adorable, but so difficult to put together!
By C. Pinchon
I just finished assembling this loft bed in white, after about 3 weeks for replacements parts. Here are the pros and cons:
PROS:
Cute design and space-saving drawers!
The bed is elevated to an adult's chest height, which is a good height for a young child (my son is almost 4 and he is 42 inches tall).
Fits a standard twin mattress.
Sides of bed is very elevated, so you won't have to worry about the child rolling off the bed and falling to the ground.
The ladder is attached by 4 long screws.
There is an extension of the bed that allows the child to put his favorite toys, bottle of water, etc. I was under the impression that there was a rod underneath that allowed you to hang a small curtain (so that the space underneath the bed could be a secret hiding place. Mine came with no such rod, I'm sure you can find a way to insert a curtain there using a small tension rod or whatever. Only caveat about this part: I assembled it the very last so that it wouldn't get dinged or ripped off while manuevering the bed. Turns out that was a wise idea. Also warned my son NOT to step into it since it will most likely break if a child decides to stand in it.
The bed setup is reversible: when you assemble it, you can decide which dresser or chest of drawers (and ladder) go on either left or right depending on your room configuration.
Customer service: polite, friendly people who answer almost right away. Unfortunately, replacement items they send out (free of charge) by FedEx takes 3 weeks! They ship from Quebec, Canada. I reordered a part (used the correct codes and everything) and the WRONG replacement part arrived. I called them and they sent another one the next day, but I wasn't going to wait around for it, since I had already waited 3 weeks for several replacement parts to come in.
CONS:
Set up is a pain! Three large heavy boxes come and you are supposed to put them together in a specific order, which is indicated on their instructions. You need a special Robertson screwdriver (it's got a small square tip) and even though it says not to use a power screwdriver, I found myself needing it all the time and sometimes even some drill bits. To put together the ladder, for instance, was impossible to do with a regular screwdriver (you drill into plastic!) and I had to make deeper holes with a drill bit and my power tools. We actually bought this bed and didn't unpack it until we moved out of state, so it was hauled one more time all the way down to CA. One of the boards had a crushed corner (see my pictures).
Sometimes the instructions don't indicate which side is supposed to be facing out (you have to really think about it and look at the overall blueprint of the dresser, which is one of the first pages of the instruction manual).
Quality: I read reviews on this bed before I bought it and took a gamble since there weren't many reviews. My two cents: Boards are heavy particleboards with paint veneer (not sure if that's the correct terminology). The wood easily chips and fractures (if your nail goes in crooked or something like that). That was a nuisance, but didn't compromise the integrity of the product overall. The bed portion of the set up the mattress is supported by 4 thick boards sitting on a single wooden beam in the center. One nail each through the beam, but that didn't seem enough for me, so I hammered a few more nails (with difficulty) into this beam. Some of the wood (such as the beam) was super dense and some things were impossible to drill/screw into without a lot of elbow grease.
Overall: a lot of pain and sweat, but my son is excited. The dressers are super wide and even though the bed is elevated, I don't think it would tip over if there was a big earthquake. It's also super heavy. Wish the quality was better and that the replacement parts shipped faster!

Great transition bed from baby to toddler...
By R. Johnson
We purchased this bed for our granddaughter. She was having trouble going/staying in her crib - it was an endless struggle to have her stay in bed. The day this bed arrived, she completely changed and is now a 'big girl'. As far as the physical bed, we were initially worried about the bed being an eleveated bed, but it proved to be needless. The ladder is easy for her to tranverse, 1 or 2 times up the ladder and she is a pro. The bed is of good quality and does seem like it will last for a long time. The little nook is perfect for a little 'fort' or a desk in her later years. In summary, my son-in-law was not super happy with me once the bed arrived.... there were like a billion pieces to assemble (somewhat expected). If you just take your time (of which you will need at least a few hours) it isnt super bad... Just take it one step at a time.

So cute
By Pen Name
I got this bed for my 6 year old while redecorating her room. The material is not the highest quality, but the bed is sturdy (my 300 pound husband was comfortable laying on it), and it is a great addition to her bedroom. My biggest complaint would be that the drawers stick alot, like every other time they are opened. And a word of advice, make sure you do not over tighten the screws, as it will split the particle board.
