Great concept, poor execution...

QUICK NOTES:
-It will ship in three ~100 lb boxes.
-It will take 7-8 hours to assemble.
-Directions are picture-based and are relatively complete
This bed consists of the loft (where the mattress goes) and three separate pieces below (2 cubbies and 1 dresser). The pieces below the loft are fine. My only complaint may be that the dresser drawer rails are not likely to last very long (speaking from past experience with these types of rails). The remainder of the review will focus on the loft portion (the part where the mattress goes).
This bed is a great idea on paper. The execution leaves much to be desired. The build material is particle board (not MDF)! I had issues where holes where not lining up. I needed a drill and hacksaw to have everything fit correctly. I also had an issue where a 2" round piece of particle board broke off one of the boards. Another thing i didn't like is how the edges of all the boards are somewhat sharp and were extremely dirty from excess veneer adhesive (the cubbies/dresser had the same issue).
TIP: use a damp rag to clean every board prior to assembly!
For as much as this bed costs, I expected the quality to be better. Since I like the concept, I'm tempted to take the dimensions/design of the loft portion to a carpenter to make the pieces out of real wood.
If I were given a do-over, I would've spent extra coin for something built better.

Great Price, Great Quality

This bed/combo is a great bargain. We searched all stores in our area and couldn't find anything even close to this. Most beds we found were between $1300 and $1800 dollars and not of any higher quality then this one. We were only buying one bed but, because of the great price, decided to go ahead and purchase two, one for each kid. The kids love them, they have lots of under the bed storage, and in return their rooms have lots more play space.
Each bed ships in three heavy boxes, everything is labeled well and the directions are really easy to follow. I put the first bed and all components together by my self and it took about 3.5 - 4 hours from start to finish.

Rack Bed - Some obstacles but 4 year old daughter loves it!

To start off this bed comes in 3 packages. 2 of the packages came but the third was not delivered due to it being addressed incorrectly at the warehouse. With that being said Amazon created another order.............the only problem with this is they had to complete a re-order! So in addion to the 2 packages I already had I recieved 3 more ........... the 2 duplicates I have to return, which I have not done yet. But will soon because if they are not recieved by a certatin date my card with get another duplicate charge. Ok so the bed took my husband about 10 hours to put together (there were some breaks in between). The directions are not that user friendly which caused us to have to re-read several times to ensure we were putting the parts together correctly. One of the pieces (41 or 44)............that is cut out and goes up beside the ladder did not have the slot cut out correctly..........it was too small to fit over the other piece that it gets screwed into. My husband had to use his tools to cut it out larger so that it would fit together. You have 2 options for the bed depending which side you want the ladder to go up, which is great...............But all of the holes are pre drilled for either option so the ones you don't use are visiable........they do send you white stickers to cover the holes BUT........... they do not stick vey well. I am looking into other options to cover the holes. With alll that said once the bed was together my 4 year olds daughters words were "I love It, it was just what I wanted!!" That made all the struggles with getting it and putting it together worth it! It is a very nice bed for the money ............. strudy enough for my myself (125 lbs) and my daughter (40 lbs) to lay in it together. You don't have to put the cubes or dresser under if you don't want which is a nice option if your child wants a littler fort under. We wound up putting the cubes under and leaveing the dresser out so that she could do just that!
