Solid Bed, Solid Value

My estimate in the video of the weight of the arrival box is probably too high, but it is a significant box and is very heavy. Definitely a two person box to move around. Once it is delivered, you could always unpack it and stage the pieces for movement to the assembly bedroom as needed. We really like the bed and I was able to assemble it without much trouble, which was important to me because I am not very handy. Great space saver since you are combining a bed and a desk into a single space.

Nice, rugged, low-priced loft bed.

Great value:
This is a really nice product for the money. We paid just under $200 for it (seems like the price varies from day to day). It is attractive and quite solid. The cross bracing of the design provides significant strength. Another example is the very clever "bridging" (plastic links) between the cross members supporting the mattress. Another nice feature is the steel frame under the laminated desk surface. The laminate is quite hard, and rugged, but thin. The steel frame makes the completed desk surface very strong. Overall, the steel members are not tremendously thick. For example, you could easily dent one with a good hammer blow. However, in normal use the final assembly is pretty solid. We would recommend a good check for shipping damage. We had none, but have had issues with items like this in the past.
Assembly:
It took us (my wife and I) just over an hour to assemble this. There are a number of reviews describing how difficult this is to assemble. I presume the manufacturer corrected the instructions. We focused on the assembly pictures and the joint/fastener details, after laying out the parts as they roughly go. The pictures are correct, and the holes, etc show, do indicate the correct part orientation. Each cross brace piece has a short and a long side. It is possible to build it backward, but it will be immediately obvious (I did this in one side) as the next step will not line up. An area one could get stuck on is using the right bolts, particularly for the bed portion assembly. The rest pretty much goes together with the numerous, short fasteners. We left all the fasteners a little more than hand tight until the entire assembly was complete. This really helped lining up holes, and allowed the cross bracing to take the load instead of the bolt joints (and then squeak).

Great bed!

This bed was great! It does take at least two people to put together. Took about 3 hours to assemble. It is super sturdy and really nice. The desk space is EXCELLENT!! It is bigger than we expected but makes good use of space. We were able to place a regular size twin mattress on it. I do not recommend the 6 inch ones because they can make it uncomfortable. Ny daughter is 10 and has no problems, still very safe and she LOVES it! The shipping was SUPER fast. It was here 5 days sooner than expected. Beware the box is VERY heavy-about 150 pounds. The only complaint I have is that on the corners where the guardrails are attached with screws we had to ply the part upward because it had been turned downward on two of them. Needle nose pliers and some pressure, and we were able to straighten them out but, still it was a mistake that should not have happened. In general, I give this bed 5 stars. Well worth the money!:-)
