4Nice Combo. Futon Pad Is Available.
By LDS
We got this bed for my thirteen-year-old son. He loves it. Getting his bed off the floor has added tons of space to his bedroom. The pictures make it look like it would be crowded trying to fit all of that content beneath the bed, but it's not. It's actually rather spacious.

My son was worried that the ladder would "hurt my feet, like my old bunk bed." It doesn't. The steps are flat on top.

The futon is not physically connected to the bed, which I like. It allows you to turn it whichever way suits your application (e.g., towards the Xbox).

The instructions for assembling the bed and futon were typical of most furniture I've assembled. The hardware was contained in blister packs, which was nice because I felt certain that everything was there.

There were no instructions for assembling the small chair. It required a bit of deductive reasoning to figure it out, but it only took a few minutes. (Hints: The longer tubes connect the sides to each other. The shorter tubes connect the longer tubes to each other. The back connects to the sides using the sleeve-like nut things. The back tubes have free ends that point up, so you can slide the fabric down onto them like a director's chair.) My son didn't like the included casters, so we left them off.

The futon pad is available from any reseller of Coaster furniture. It is SKU 2335M. I paid $119 for it. It only comes in red. I had to wait two weeks to get it, but that may vary depending on the reseller.

Overall, we are pleased with our purchase.

4A Good Deal with Some Challenges
By Brian M. Donohue
Word to the wise: you'll need your own basic tools (an electric drill with allen bits, pliers or vise grips, hammer, screwdrivers) and a reasonable ability to use them if you're to get the most out of this thing, which really is a pretty good deal. And moderate physical conditioning is a must: the boxes weigh about 40lb. (the futon chair) and 70lb. (the main bed frame). Those conditions met, the assembly is fairly easy and straightforward, and the English language instructions are reasonably well done with a minimum of "Engrish" in them (everything is made in China). The convertible futon chair is, as other commenters have noted, a very odd size -- I'm intending to get some foam rubber and cut it to size (32" wide) then wrap it in cloth. The bed itself accepts a standard size futon twin. The steel is pretty good quality and the welds look solid, especially in the key places (where the mattress support goes into the frame ends); and the design is really very good, particularly the desk. One problem is the ladder, which is built upright into the frame -- a lot of parents prefer having an angled step-type ladder. I got this for a teenager, so the 90-degree climb is not such an issue.

The only completely defective parts in this thing were the desk chair's wheels, which are plastic and shattered almost on first use. It's mildly disappointing but hardly a deal-breaker given the quality of the rest of the unit. A quality product that would beat this thing would run around or above $1K in the stores, so $460 (I'm including the shipping cost) is a very good deal for what you get here, as long as you're willing to do some work and deal with a few compromises on quality.

4Black metal Loft Bed
By Kayleen Campbell
I really like the way it's structured but was a bit disappointed that the futon cushion did not come with it. I was under the understanding that it did. I knew the matress didn't but it seemed that in the description, it mentioned the futon cushion.
